We were finally able to announce our new arrival at work, female baby binturong, name yet to be determined by the general public (ultimately we pick the winner :)).
Our newest addition!
We started our baby registries, a daunting task considering we have NO IDEA what it is that babies really need. Good news? A couple mom friends entertained me and hit Babies R Us with me to see what I really need to buy. I knew that babies required a lot of stuff, either that or you do, but good lord! We've received a couple more gifts for baby already...thank you!!
This singing, clapping dog (which may accidentally run out of batteries soon)
was given to baby by family.
Another book from Megan.
We've started our nursery. Yes, for those of you who have seen our 1869 house we do have room for one child at the moment. We've got paint colors picked out, new wood flooring selected, and a lot of work to do as under the ugly green carpet is the original flooring...yep, original.
I wish I would've taken a before and after of this room.
It used to be our catch all, especially sporting equipment, room.
But, as you can guess by the carpet that was laid down,
there are changes coming. :)
Speaking of pains....I've started doing physical therapy for my hips, abs, and back in hopes that the pain associated with this pregnancy will stay at a minimum and prep my body for delivery. So far the taping of my hips, exercises, and icing are feeling great. :) Add in some prenatal massages, cupping, and acupuncture and I should have no gripes. Other than the noticeable veins on my sides and my fingers getting chubby. ;)
Every night I lay down to sleep I place my hands on my belly and wait to feel something from baby, but all I feel is my pulse. Thankfully, when I worry, I pull out my ol trusty home doppler and check on baby. :) Due to my anterior placenta I still have yet to feel real movement from baby. But, I have felt random flutters. Patiently awaiting the day I can truly feel baby move.
We're officially halfway! We had our 20 week scan and our baby is extremely average. Average in weight, size, and average with a white spot on their heart. We were assured this white spot is nothing to worry about as many babies have this white spot around 20 weeks and with a later scan it has disappeared. In one of my support groups someone mentioned that doctors are considering not even telling parents nowadays because it's so common and usually leads to nothing.
Baby at 20 weeks.
With the good, comes the bad. In the past month we have put my father-in-law in hospice care, and sadly, watched him pass away. He lived a full 91 years and proudly served with K Company, 85th Infantry Regiment, of the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. The Broncos home game this past Sunday was very appropriate for our week. A salute to military, complete with a flyover.
Fort Logan, soldiers at attention for Norman's service.
This hasn't happened in years.
A great salute to all servicemen and servicewomen.
With this week comes some reflection and giving thanks. I might have struggled through life in my 20's trying to figure out who I was and where I belonged, but I'll be damned if that didn't lead me to where I am at this very moment. Every tear shed, pain felt, move across country, smile had, depressing thought expressed, pound gained, experience learned, and laugh cackled has led to this life. A life that you could not trade me. I live in a small mountain town away from the everyday hustle and bustle, with the best husband a woman could ask for, not far from my awesome family and friends, and most importantly, I am pregnant with my own baby! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
And, without further ado, here's your bump picture! :)
